The Patient Database Intern will work closely with World Pediatric Project’s Director of Patient Information. The Patient Database Intern will assist with updating and maintaining the patient database, which captures clinical and demographic information about all of the patients served through WPP’s direct services programs. This role is well suited for those looking for exposure to medical terminology and to the behind the scenes operations for coordinating surgical care for children in other countries. This role does not provide any exposure to or practice with database design and implementation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain patient documentation in electronic form by scanning and saving patient records to organization’s database and labeling patient documentation
Complete data entry to capture clinical notes written by WPP’s physicians and patient demographic information
Proof past data entry to assist with data quality control
Assist with reconstruction of data in newly updated database
Provide other administrative support to the Director of Patient Information, as instructed
Qualifications:
Exceptional attention to detail and to completing tasks thoroughly
Excellent computer skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong typing skills
Scanning
E-mail
Willing to commit a minimum of 2 consecutive semesters to internship
Able to meet deadlines and follow written instructions
Strong communication skills
Must be willing to dedicate 10-15 hours per week for internship
