Communications/Social Media Internship

The Communications Intern will provide support to implement World Pediatric Project’s communications, marketing, social media, and public relations efforts. The Communications Intern will work closely with the Director of Communications on specific duties which include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain communication with US Referrals team regarding WPP patients in town to develop fresh content, photos, and videos for online channels
  • Write one blog post per week and upload to WPP’s website
  • Tweet on behalf of WPP
  • Post to Facebook and Instagram on behalf of WPP
  • Research relevant news articles on a weekly basis to tweet about and to obtain media pitch
  • Develop and pitch one creative story idea to targeted media by the end of the internship
  • Learn about nonprofit development, event planning, communications and marketing in a small, professional environment which will give the intern extensive independence
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity and experience using social media
  • An interest in marketing, communications, public relations and/or social media in a nonprofit
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Microsoft Word, Excel, and online services
  • The ability to work independently and assertively to take on individual projects with minimal need for supervision
  • Graphic design experience preferred
  • Experience with photography/videography is a plus, but not required
  • Must be willing to dedicate 10 hours per week for internship
