The Communications Intern will provide support to implement World Pediatric Project’s communications, marketing, social media, and public relations efforts. The Communications Intern will work closely with the Director of Communications on specific duties which include but are not limited to:
Develop content and post via social media on behalf of WPP
Work with Development team to assist in the creation of a digital content calendar and promotional material for upcoming events
Maintain communication with US Referrals team regarding WPP patients in town to develop fresh content, photos, and videos for online channels
Develop and propose ideas for mini-campaigns focused on specific calls-to-action to help spread WPP’s message
Research relevant news articles on a weekly basis to tweet about and to obtain media pitch
Learn about nonprofit development, event planning, communications and marketing in a small, professional environment which will give the intern extensive independence
Qualifications:
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Familiarity and experience using various social media platforms – including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
An interest in marketing, communications, public relations and/or social media in a nonprofit
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and online services
The ability to work independently and assertively to take on individual projects with minimal need for supervision
Graphic design experience preferred
Experience with photography/videography is a plus, but not required
Must be willing to dedicate 10 hours per week for internship
